After yesterday’s eventful evening, we all slept HARD.
Since we had a down day, we decided to go along with our original plans of visiting the Western Railway Museum. But first, we started the day with Audrey’s favorite place – the bears.
Craig found a train museum outside Rio Vista and bought tickets for us to ride a train. We think it was Audrey’s first train ride, and she loved it. Our suggestion is to take the morning train instead of the two o’clock. The 1911 model electric train car had 1911 air conditioning.
In the last few years, we’ve dug into family genealogy, and Craig has done a lot of work building his family tree on Ancestry. He discovered his 4th great-grandparents and some of their children lived in Solano County, near present-day Suisun City, Ca.
We drove from the museum to see where they lay to rest. It was neat to see the old headstones as they were in the oldest part of the Rockville Cemetery. It was a rural setting, even today. It must have been a few days’ ride to San Francisco. The Russell plot lay under some of the oldest oak trees on the property. 1861 John Russell was among the first buried in the Rockville Cemetery. The stone church on the property, built out of locally quarried rock, was built in 1856.
We’ve had a lot of random conversations in the last 24 hours; one of them was about the names of towns. Audrey is confused about Tracy because she still needs to meet her. Audrey says, “When I see Tracy, I’ll tell her hi.” 😂🤷🏻♀️
